Overview of the TASK+ Program

Southeast Raleigh Community Learning Center’s program is a community based educational support program. The Teaching and Assessing Students Kindergarten + (through high school) provides an academic STEAM and technology enrichment program for students in Second Grade through high school. We are not a one on one tutoring service. The TASK+ program focuses on Literacy and Science, Technology , Engineering, Arts and Math (STEAM) curricula. We convene in the Educational Wing at State Street Community Church in Raleigh where grade level groups have their own area for appropriate engagement.

Transportation pickup is available to students attending our feeder schools. However, any student in the Wake County area is welcome to attend with parents providing transportation to the site.

Students spend 15 hours weekly in the program. The general learning program will run from 2:30PM to 6:00 PM, (depending on the time of school release) each Monday Through Friday. On the third Saturday of each month, we conduct a 4 hour family and extended learning time. This time allows for parent engagement, family involvement and other creative programs. In order for students to gain full benefit of the learning experiences, academic and social growth, parents must ensure they attend daily, remaining until 6:00PM. The student and parents must also participate in the third Saturday activities.

Formal Assessments: We believe all students can and will succeed in our program. Each student is given an academic assessment when entering the program, during the program and at the end of the program. This assessment gives the teachers the entry point for students in the areas of Math and Reading, which is needed to address the student where s/he is. Informal assessments are embedded in daily instruction and documented daily to measure academic growth.
